It's always amazing to me how many people piss, moan, and complain about the nature of politics, the state of the world, and the condition of the universe, who can't even keep their own little house in order. Change yourself, change your own little world, and then you've got the cred to begin to change the rest of us and the world as a whole. Until then, nose to the grindstone of self-improvement, my friend.
And change, remember is a process, not an event. Sudden enlightenment is about as likely as winning the Powerball jackpot. You transcend and transform each and every self you create, over and over again until either no-self, or only Self, is left. Then it makes sense to take the Bodhisattva Vows. Up until then you're just mouthing the words; you might as well be saying The Lord's Prayer or telling a litany of knock-knock jokes.
Again and again you surprise you by surpassing you, by mutating you, by becoming both more You and less you simultaneously. Conscious evolution is a pretty wicked trip, an amazing ride. Much more fun than just emerging from the primordial slime and trading some fins for arms, some gills for lungs.
The revolution begins with evolution. It begins on your meditation cushion, not in the streets. The revolution begins within.
