This quotation stunned me to silence knowing the experience. My first time posting anything... wish I had the quote in front of me as I write. 30 years since my son's death and we live together in this loving silence. 40 years of marriage and we live on in this silence surrounded and supported by words that have no meaning.
"I believe that the very purpose of our lives is to seek happiness," says the Dalai Lama. Through keynote speeches and workshops, counseling and coaching, blogs and e-docs, I help people live happier lives. Find out more at http://www.DavidEastman.com
Words, words, everywhere! We are inundated with status updates, tweets, IM's, emails, and texts. Sometimes it feels that post-modern life is merely too many people saying too much about too little. But that's not the whole story. There is writing, both contemporary and historical, that expresses the deeper truths of life. And it is a joy to read!
I am continually amazed at the power phrases, sentences and small paragraphs have. I am delighted time after time at the ability of words to provoke the "ah-ha" experience, the flash of insight, the moment of clarity. I love to mentally ride each wave that crests on the sea of wisdom, and yet I'm frustrated. Frustrated that though I'm surrounded by wisdom I embody so little of it and act upon even less.
So, this blog is my attempt to put wisdom into action on at least a semi-regular basis. It is a spiritual discipline of sorts. A chance for me to read, reflect upon and write about one particular facet of the diamond of wisdom, and then attempt to live its lesson that day, and hopefully for many days to come.
You're invited to come along on this journey, or merely to drop in when the Spirit moves you. Your ideas, perspectives, comments and quotations are always welcome. I hope, like me, you enjoy finding Wisdom Everywhere.
